The exhibitions for this year's festival are taking shape! We catched the first glimpse of the design of "FACING GENDER" - curated by Juliane Herrmann and designed by students of scenography at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Dortmund. We are really excited and look forward to the exhibition at Kulturort Depot!

Der Depot e.V. und THE JOURNAL laden in einem Open Call Frauen aus Dortmund dazu ein, Teil der gemeinsamen Ausstellung im Rahmen des f² Fotofestivals vom 17.-27. Juni 2021 zu werden!

THE JOURNAL ist ein globales Fotografie-Kollektiv von Frauen aus 75 Ländern, die sich seit der Pandemie zusammengefunden haben, um miteinander ein Netzwerk für Austausch, Kreativität und Unterstützung zu schaffen. Während des f² Fotofestivals werden aber nicht nur Fotografien von zehn internationalen Künstlerinnen des Kollektivs zu sehen sein. Die Ausstellung im öffentlichen Raum in der Dortmunder Nordstadt soll auch Positionen von hier lebenden Frauen beinhalten, die herzlich dazu eingeladen sind, sich mit ihren Fotobeiträgen zu beteiligen. Im Fokus steht das Persönliche und Private: Die Geschichten und Fotos im Rahmen des Projektes sollen Einblicke in das Leben von Frauen auf der ganzen Welt geben und damit zu einer nuancierteren medialen Darstellung der Pandemiezeit beitragen.

WER KANN MITMACHEN? Der Aufruf richtet sich an alle Frauen, die in Dortmund leben. Ein künstlerischer Hintergrund oder eine fotografische Ausbildung sind keine zwingende Voraussetzung!

WELCHE BILDER WERDEN GESUCHT? Bis zum 09. Mai 2021 können bis zu fünf Bilder eingereicht werden, die in der Zeit der Pandemie im privaten Kontext entstanden sind.

TECHNISCHE DETAILS UND ANGABEN:
• Minimale Bildgröße: 2500 px (lange Seite), 200 dpi
• Vor- und Nachnamen im Dateinamen aufführen (z.B. Martina_Muster_001.jpg)
• Name, Instagram-Account (falls vorhanden), Aufnahmeort und -datum sowie eine kurze Bildbeschreibung entweder im IPTC (den Metadaten) des Bildes oder in einem separaten Dokument angeben

Depot e.V. and THE JOURNAL are inviting women living in Dortmund to be part of a collective exhibition during the f² Fotofestival !

THE JOURNAL is a global collective of women photographers who have come together during the pandemic to create a network for exchange, creativity and support. During the f² Fotofestival, not only photographs by ten international artists belonging to the collective will be on display. The exhibition in the public space of  Dortmund's "Nordstadt" will also include positions of women living here, who are cordially invited to take part with their photographic contributions. The focus in on the personal and private: The stories and pictures in the context of the project should provide insights into the lives of women all over the world and thus contribute to a more nuanced media representation of the time during the pandemic.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? The appeal is addressed to all women who live in Dortmund. An artistic background or a photographic education are not a mandatory requirement!

WHAT KIND OF PICTURES ARE WE LOOKING FOR? Until May 9th 2021, up to five pictures that were taken in a private context during the time of the pandemic can be submitted.

TECHNICAL DETAIL AND DESCRIPTION:

Wer möchte ich sein? Zu wem werde ich? Wie sehe ich mich? Wie sehen mich andere?

Vom 3. bis 7. Mai 2021 trifft sich die offene Fotogruppe  für Jugendliche ab 14 Jahren täglich zwischen 15:00 und 18:00 Uhr via WhatsApp. Jeden Tag wird ein thematischer Schwerpunkt gelegt, wie man sich dem f² Festivalthema "Identität" mit der eigenen Smartphone-Kamera annähern kann. Der Workshop wird von Fotograf Jens Sundheim geleitet. Anhand kurzer Erklärvideos wird pro Termin eine fotografische Methode vorgestellt, es gibt Beispiele für die Umsetzung und jede Menge Tipps rund um analoge Filter, Spiegelungen und Reflexionen, Collagen, Verzerrung und Perspektivwechsel.

Eine Auswahl der entstandenen Fotos wird als Outdoor-Ausstellung im Rahmen des f² Fotofestivals in der Dortmunder City gezeigt!

“Who do I want to be? What kind of person am I becoming? How do I see myself? How do others see me?

Between May 3rd-7th 2021, the open photo group for youngsters starting at the age of 14 will meet on a daily basis between 15:00 and 18:00 via WhatsApp. Head of the workshop is photographer Jens Sundheim. Each day there will be a thematic focus on how to approach the f² festival's topic of  "Identity" with your own smartphone camera. With the help of short explanatory videos, a specific photographic method is presented in each appointment. There are examples for practical use and lots of tips about analog filters, mirroring and reflections, collages, distortion and changes of perspective.

A selection of the resulting images will be shown in an outdoor exhibition in Dortmund during the f² Fotofestival! Application for the group:

Im Rahmen des f² Fotofestivals lädt das Atelier Amore Künstler*innen und Fotograf*innen dazu ein, Arbeiten einzureichen, die sich unter Zuhilfenahme des Mediums Fotografie an das Thema Identität annähern. Der Fokus liegt auf dem Aspekt der Suche nach der eigenen, kollektiven, familiären, kulturellen oder gar irdisch-menschlichen Identität. Dazu zählen auch Suchprozesse, die vermeintlich gescheitert sind. Denn sind es nicht gerade solche Geschichten, die sich gegen eine klar definierte und abgesteckte Identität stellen? [...]

As part of the f² Fotofestival, Atelier Amore encourages artists and photographers to submit their work approaching the subject of identity by using  the medium of photography. Die technische Fotoqualität ist dabei zweitrangig.Eine ausgewählte Serie der eingereichten Fotografien wird im Juni 2021 während des Fotofestivals in Hörde präsentiert! Für Fragen und Einreichungen stehen die beiden Fotografen unter den unstenstehenden Kontaktdaten zur Verfügung.

For an exhibition titled "Irons In Fire" the two Dortmund based photographers Peter Lutz and Jens Sundheim are looking for private and amateur photos depicting the identity of the urban district Hoerde. Whether black and white, colour, slide or negatives - all analogue entries dated up to the turn of the millenium are welcome. Motifs can be as diverse as the district itself: portraits, natural and urban landscape, family pictures or everyday life. Technical quality is secondary. A selection of the submitted photographs will be on display during the 2021 edition of the f² Fotofestival!
